My power shower is making a slight burning smell when I use it. Can anyone recommend a reliable replacement? Its a Triton AS2000SR which has lasted less than 2 years. My budget is £250 - £300.

Isolate the power and pop the cover off. Check the terminals where the mains cable goes in.If you are not sure what you are doing with electrics, get an electrician to check it over.If it is just a loose connection, it seems a waste of money to replace it.Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
Thanks, how likely is it that the motor has burned out? It sounds ok. My previous shower was making a right old racket.0

It unfortunately only has a 1-year warranty, tho' should really last a good number of years.
Worth doing what FreeBear suggests, bearing in mind the safety implications.
Power off, cover off, examine all the wiring. This is a low-power device, so it's unlikely that the mains cable is overheating at the terminals, but check these connections for tightness tobesure.
You say it actually runs ok? It may just be normal motor commutator arcing, a wee build up of carbon causing causing an extra amount of smelly, in which case just keep using it.
Are there gaps/holes in the side-end of the motor near the brushes? If so - and if you take the correct precautions - you could try aiming the showerhead down close the the tray, and fire it up for a few seconds - look for any obviously excessive sparking.
Failing that, just keep using it until it goes 'bang' or 'fffzzzzz'. It could - likely will - take years.0 -
Can you ID this burning smell? 'Electrical' usually has an acrid, chemical smell.0
