Replacement car option when the car breaks down at home

Hi All,
It is time to renew my car insurance policy, mine is a Kia electric car.
Last year unfortunately it broke down at home, I was able to use my breakdown cover (Nationwide Flex plus account breakdown cover) to send the car to garage. It took a month for the repair to be done, the car was less than 2 years old at that time. All work was done under warranty, but I was without a car for a month. I had courtesy car added in my car insurance policy, but NFU Mutual didn't provide me a courtesy car saying car wasn't involved in an accident. Kia refused to give a replacement car mentioning 7 year warranty only covers the repair work and not replacement car.
My question - is there an insurance policy where I can get a replacement car for the duration of repair after a breakdown when car is not involved in an accident? I am ready to pay additional premium just to avoid the same situation. All car insurance providers mention that courtesy car will be provided only if car is stolen or involved in an accident.

Please help.

You should have asked the dealership for a curtesy car, I have always had one for warranty repairs and my daughter had one for the umpteen times her diesel Kia has been in the workshop over the last two years.

This isn't an insurance question, it's a breakdown cover question.
Insurance doesn't cover breakdowns at all.

But, no, no breakdown cover will provide a guaranteed hire car for an extended repair. If they did, you wouldn't want to pay the premium.

If the garage don't provide a courtesy car, then your best bet is probably to rent one, and argue with Kia about covering the cost as a goodwill measure.

I did multiple times, but the dealership said they don't have any at that time.

Thank you for the reply. Just wanted to check before I renew my car insurance.  Kia wasn't really helpful, but you don't find out these things when you buy a brand new car :-(

Kia clearly state in Warranty T/C about this.

    Limited liability

Under this warranty, Kia are only liable for the repair or replacement of original parts by an authorised Kia dealer that are defective in material or workmanship. Kia are not liable for any costs that may incur getting to a dealer, supplying a replacement car or as a result of being without the car during warranty repairs.

    Extra expenses and damages

Kia won’t reimburse for any financial loss or other damages. For example, loss of use, lodging and car rentals, travel costs or loss of earnings.

It's down to the dealer to supply one. But they are in short supply now, as dealer no longer have lots of staff cars that can be used.
