Do I need to inform car insurance after license back following medical revocation?

My car insurance company is an online only broker and I'm having issues trying to speak to an actual person and not a chatbot.

I've had confirmation from DVLA that my driving license is being reissued following a medical revocation. Do I need to inform my car insurance company or can I simply start driving?

Thanks alll

You would have been required to tell them why and when it was revoked

What did they say when you advised them?

Of course you will need to contact them now you are allowed to drive again.
  • Thanks Ayr_Rage. The policy started with this insurance company during the period of revocation so I didn't specifically advise them other than when I entered my drivers license number which would have flagged that I didn't have any driving entitlement at that time. I kept the policy on as my brother is named driver on the policy and he continued to need access to the car.

You would've needed to actually tell them you didn't have a valid licence at the time you purchased the policy, never assume!

I don't think the OP wouldn't have been able to take out a policy in their name if they had no driving licence.  They should certainly have informed their insurer of the situation.  As it stands, the brother is quite possibly driving without insurance.  It needs to be sorted quickly, and the car not driven until it is.
