London Fireworks on New Years Eve

Hi I am planning to go to see the fireworks in London on New Years Eve and need a bit of advice.
I know it can get very crowded around the Embankment/Westminster area but is there another location which is less crowded and has good views?
Also, I'm thinking of parking my car around the outskirts as the public transport back home will be a nighmare. Any tips on car parking nearby?
