Having a bad experience with solicitors

I'm nearly 4 months into a house purchase. Purchasing with a mortgage.
I'm really close to the completion date now. I've provided all my statements and financial details etc and provided all information.
Earlier this week I got given a date of completion for Friday.
The day after the Solicitors drops a bombshell of information needed from my statements including information from my parents and wife.
They say it's my lender asking for last min info but I've checked with them myself and they say they have everything they need.
The estate agents are suggesting the seller wants to pull out of the sale due to the delays.
Iv a suspicion my solicitor has dropped the ball somewhere but won't admit it.
Has anyone else had an experience like this?

It's possible they have "dropped the ball" (unless the intended source of funds has recently changed), but not sure how that helps you - they'll still need the info for anti-money-laundering purposes. Is there a problem in obtaining it?1

Your solicitor also works for the lender. Money laundering checks and verification of the source of funds are standard checks. Normally left to the end of the process. As over the course of several months things can change. The lender won't release the funds until the checks are satisfactorily completed. As with financial matters generally when people start protesting suspicions are naturally raised. As those with nothing to conceal dutifully comply.ofahmed778 said:

Are you the only one on the mortgage or is your wife on it with you? So info would be required from her.
Are your parents providing any part of the deposit? In which case info is required from them.
Timing might be better perhaps but these things need to be done. So much this. No-one is pulling out because of a few days either side.Brie said:Timing might be better perhaps but these things need to be done. And EAs are always saying someone is about to pull out of the sale.
It'll take them another 6 months at least to be in a position to be where they are now.

They haven't dropped the ball just because they haven't asked for something as early as they might have. If they need it, they need it, provide it and move on.0
