Barclaycard account blocked

in Credit cards
My Barclaycard account has been blocked either yesterday or Tuesday. I only became aware when I received apple wallet notification that my card has been suspended.
I contactee Barclaycard and entered my card number on the automatic service, it taken me up Barclaycard fraud detection team. They could not access the account properly so said they will refer to higher team for a call back The guy was based in India I think
I cannot access Barclaycard app showing no cards. However, I can use the automatic service which shows the balance and the available credit as normal with recent transaction.
It looks like they closing the account. The account was running normal with payment in full every month. I had it since moving from Egg card
The only thing extra I done was requested additional card over a week a go which I didn't hear anything.
Any suggestions
Feeling worried thank you.

I suspect fraudulent transactions have appeared
Did you ever receive the 2nd card ?
I've had a Halifax card get flagged as someone was attempting to make numerous purchases in Vietnam or somewhere. They cancelled my original card and until I activated the new card the app showed nothingEx forum ambassador

I have already rang twice and they can't give me any details. They can't even access the account properly and just call back will be made.born_again said:

I can still access the automatica service which shows the balance and the available credit so they haven't taken the credit limit away.
My apple wallet says the card has been suspended not closed.
It is just stressing me out.0 -
@superM , is this the Barclaycard Cashback card (0.5%)?
Earlier this year they started capping the monthly Cashback to 4 x credit limit spend. Prior to that it was unlimited, so clearly they are looking at the large Cashback amounts 'earned' by some customers. Particularly 'manufactured' spending - which is much easier to achieve with this card than most!
.
Was your average monthly cashback particularly high?
Perhaps you been using your Barclaycard to pay off other cards or loans (eg Santander or Creation)?
You could raise a complaint, that might get things moving! Good luck.

What do you mean by 4 x credit limit spend? Surely not 4 times your total credit limit in a single month?
I still have this card - put about £12-15k of genuine spend through it in a year, usually less than my credit limit over 12 months, and would be rather disappointed if it gets withdrawn because other people are taking the proverbial.

Correct, 0.5% cashback on that spend for that month.Nebulous2 said:

Say your credit limit was £10k, up to £40k spend would qualify for 0.5% cashback (ie £200 per month max).
Of course, many customers will have a much lower credit limit than that.Nebulous2 said:I still have this card - put about £12-15k of genuine spend through it in a year, usually less than my credit limit over 12 months, and would be rather disappointed if it gets withdrawn because other people are taking the proverbial.

They won't pull the cashback unless the particular product is not making enough money as a whole, as they would probably lose a fair percentage of non-mickey takers to other credit card providers, and they might never come back (e.g. the spend everything on the card and clear in full, and never borrow crowd, who could be lured into using 1% cashback debit cards for their day to day spend).Scrounger said:

I for one would take my business elsewhere if they closed down my 0.5% card. Most of my spend would move to the Chase debit card, and I'd be motivated to find a better credit card deal (e.g "better overall payback", extended interest-free on purchases+long stooze)
For the record, the closest I've got to manufactured spending is funnelling mortgage overpayments through Barclaycard so I can get 56 days 0% plus cashback every time - and that's hardly manufactured as I can't withdraw the overpayments.0 -
I'm not sure how you managed that but nice work!pochisoldi said:For the record, the closest I've got to manufactured spending is funnelling mortgage overpayments through Barclaycard so I can get 56 days 0% plus cashback every time - and that's hardly manufactured as I can't withdraw the overpayments.

Sometimes additional card requests can trigger a security review.Maybe that plus something else has concerned them enough to suspend the account until further confirmation from yourself.Usually, front line agents are not privvy to that kind of information due to tip off.The only thing you can do is wait until contacted.0
