Unused Gift cards

Hi,
I have a gift card for Laser Clinics Liverpool. It is still in date and has never been used. Without warning, in March, Laser Clinics Liverpool closed. The company Laser Clinics continues to have clinics open in other cities so the company has not shut down.
I asked for the gift card to be refunded (over £100 on it). They've refused.

Can they refuse to refund the gift card in this situation?
It was paid for with cash so can't get help from the bank

Unlikely that you have any right to a refund but it'll depend on the Ts & Cs - if not, can you use the gift card in one of their other locations?0

It's possible that each location is run as a franchise and therefore the gift card would probably only be valid at the specific location.

Indeed. If you have a gift card for Scouse Beauty Solutions Ltd but have phoned Mancunian Hair Removal Ltd, they're unlikely to help you, even if the companies are somehow related.TELLIT01 said:It's possible that each location is run as a franchise and therefore the gift card would probably only be valid at the specific location.0 -
This is the issue when you buy gift cards; there's little you can do if the business stops trading.0

It's precisely the reason I keep trying to convince my missus (with little success so far) that it's far better to simply give adults the cash. Then they can buy what they want at leisure.
