HM Gov advice is that you can use either the Friday or following Monday prices -(Valuing stocks and shares for Inheritance Tax - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)If the stock exchange was closed on the day of deathIf the person died on a day when the stock exchange was closed, you can use the closing price on either: - the last day when the stock exchange was open before the person died
- the first day when the stock exchange was open after the person died
You can use the price on whichever day is lower. For example, if the person died on Sunday, and the closing price was lower on Monday than on the previous Friday, you can use Monday’s price. You can choose whether to use the price for Monday or Friday for each separate shareholding.
