Do I have to accept time limited vouchers as refund from Easyjet?

Options
Due to my husband being seriously unwell and medically unfit to fly, I have applied for a refund on our return Easyjet flights from LGW to Edinburgh next month.
Easyjet have responded promptly offering us time limited (12 months to rebook) vouchers but can I reject this offer and ask for cash back?
We probably will be able to use the vouchers either for the original destination or somewhere else but would prefer cash just in case we can't.
Thoughts/comments would be welcomed.
TIA

You can reject the offer and ask for cash and they can refuse. Technically this would be a gesture of goodwill on their part and so it is entirely at their discretion what, if anything they offer you.

A year seems a decent length of time for a goodwill gesture.

    Vouchers are their standard refund.

You can cancel a holiday with them but the refund, as per their terms, is as a credit against future holidays

Easyjet flights are normally non refundable but you can change the date of travel.

The time limited voucher would appear to comply with that.
