    I realise it's a difficult situation. Is your relative getting any help for the gambling addiction? If so, maybe you could also talk to them as they may have ideas about how to approach this situation.

    Please remember that you can't help an addict if they don't want to help themselves. And this may change over time, unfortunately. Good luck!

    Search out some Monthly Income Accounts.  The capital is untouchable but the interest is paid out.  See if one will provide enough for your friend.
