I have just renewed my car insurance after going through a comparison site. The policy doesn't start for another few weeks but I was using the optimal time per Martin's recommendation.

How long are these quote on a comparison site valid? I did not look but had a note on the insurance company site suggesting the price may change if I go back anothr day. Just a thought that I had is that I would have preferred the payment to be on next month's credit card bill

It varies, some are for the day, some a week and others a month.

Have you already purchased the policy?
if you have and your planning to cancel and rebuy. You need to consider the cancellation fees

Yes, I have a new policy due to start at £60 cheaper than the current insurer's renewal price so I am happy with what I have. I was just wondering if the price would be valid if I came back in 10 days, for example. My only thought (after the event) was that it would smooth the CC payment as I have just paid for the service and MoT - so I will have a hefty bill in August I guess :-(

You would incur whatever cancellation costs
then there’s no gurantee it would be the same price

If you are getting quotes for a 21 Jul start date then all quotes will cease to be valid on the 22 July irrespective of the normal quote validity period as you'd need to change the start date which will mean rerating the policy based on todays rates.
