My Dad who is 98 has recently entered a care home on a permanent basis. He is fully self funded and will stay that way for the foreseeable future. Will he receive the winter fuel payment along with his State pension. Thank you.

Is he also claiming attendance allowance because as a self funder he should be?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

And presumably all the other 5 benefits that come with the state pension benefit(***)..

    - Winter fuel allowance, free prescriptions, £10 Xmas bonus, free 'bus pass (sounds unlikely he will use this), free eye tests...

*** see Section1(1) of the Pensions Act 2014

    https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2014/19/section/1

    1 State pension

    (1) This Part creates a benefit called state pension.

These “benefits” for pensioners sound good but …

Everyone over 60 gets free prescriptions, not just pensioners, plus anyone with long term health issues such as cancer or diabetes.   Doesn’t everyone in Scotland and Wales get free prescriptions?  Many people, not just pensioners get free eye tests.    £10 bonus has been the same since 1972.  £10 then is worth around £163 today.
    :D

Free bus passes?  That’s great if you have buses.   Where we live there was a useful bus service to get us from the outskirts of the market town to the centre. Most of the passengers were pensioners.  The council is supposed to reimburse the bus companies for the cost of the journeys.  Our council decided to only give them a small amount so they immediately withdrew the bus route leaving hundreds of pensioners stranded.

I assume that the OP's father, as he is self-funding care, will not qualify for Pension Credit and, therefore, no longer receive the Winter Fuel Allowance.  Time seems to have rendered the initial response incorrect out-of-date.

I was correct when I replied, but things move on.

    I agree.
There will be other examples of advice that has been given that's changed over time, but calling it incorrect would give it a misleading impression.

Sorry, I did not mean to suggest that the original response was incorrect when it was given.
Perhaps "out-of-date" would have been a better turn of phrase - I will amend my post.
