Cancelled car insurance

Hello everyone I’m a newbie to this site.
I cancelled my car insurance over a month ago. I received a letter stating I’m in credit and I will be reimbursed in my bank account which did happen.
However today I’ve received a letter stating after an internal audit they made a mistake thus I’m to call to discuss payment of the difference.

Where do I stand?

Have they explained any further? Had you made a claim? (generally you don't get a refund for the rest of the year if you had already made a claim that year). What are the figures in question?
If they simply made an arithmetical mistake calculating the figures then yes, they're entitled to have that rectified (in the same way that you would if they had paid you too little).1 -
No claims have been made since I took the policy out 2019. I had a month and a half left on the policy before renewing.0

Where do I stand?Mistakes happen and a mistake in amounts does not give the individual or the firm to financially benefit from that mistake. (rare caveats apply)
So, if they have overpaid you, you must pay them back the amount owed.
It is logical, too. After all, if the firm said they had an internal audit and you paid too much to them originally, you would expect them to refund you. It works both ways.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Contact them as requested and understand what mistake they claim has been made and what the difference in payment is. If it is a genuine mistake and you owe the money then that is the case.
If you were hoping that you could avoid the payment as they made a mistake, unfortunately it doesn't work like that. You could ask for some kind of compromise as a gesture of goodwill due to it being their error.0
