Removing a mantle/hearth

How easy is it likely to be to remove this fireplace (actually just a mantle and hearth I know)? I’m aware we’ll be missing carpet where the hearth currently is, and the fire will have been decommed ages ago, though I don’t know how thoroughly it is boxed in. With a quick look I can’t see any of the fixings/screws holding things in place, though I can tell the mantle is caulked around the edges.
I’m not the most practical person and though the husband is, his health makes it harder for him to help, and I’m wondering if this is too silly a job to hire someone in for and something I should be able to do myself?
Yes it’s an old picture as we had to replace the tv and the new one is currently sitting on a table in front of the fireplace

Looks like it might be a custom (home made ?) affair. Possibly some battens fixed to the brickwork with screws, and the panels glued & pinned on top. A pry bar and a big hammer should make short work of it. Start at the top, and work your way down.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –
