Excessive charge for mining search?

My daughter is about to buy her first house - as you can imagine, my stress level is already at overload. She's just got her first conveyancing quote from a local solicitor, and we are horrified to see an entry for £3,300 for a mining search!
While I can see the relevance of such a search... £3300???
Is this possible?
Thanks

Think they're usually about £30 - £40. I wonder if the cost is £33.00 but there's been a mistype??0

I wondered that myself, but then thought could anybody really send a quote out with that size of error...

Has anybody bothered to make a phone call? Most likely a fat finger typing nothing more.0

It is good practice to get more than one quotation...
This particular solicitor seems to fail the first test of "attention to detail", so time to look for another one.

Probably a typo and an automatic =sum() to get to the final charge by someone who hasn't proof read. Just ask them to check.0

Quite right everybody - apparently this should have been listed as Stamp DutyEven first time buyers have to pay it in Wales if the property is over £225k, which pretty much everything is.Thanks!2
