letter saying my mother has passed away and asking for her details

I have recently received letters from two separate Companies whom I have never heard of but claiming to be managing my mothers aafes pensions. They both claim to have been notified of my mothers death and are asking to clarify with all her details and death certificate but my mother is absolutely very alive. I was just wondering if anyone else has had a letter saying the same? This just seems like someone phishing.

If she hasn't died then I'd say it's phishing.

If you want to check on the legitimacy then google the companies' names and contact them with the details found on line and ask if they have any policies for your mother and ensure that someone else hasn't sent in something that suggests they are a beneficiary.
