Aer Lingus - Manchester - Dublin LAX flights queries

Options
Hi

Has anybody flown on this route recently?  Trying to find out the following but it isn't clear

Once I check my luggage in Manchester, do I not see it again until LAX?

How many meals would I get on the flight? (some dietary issues within my party)

I know I clear US customs in Dublin (a major reason for using this route), but what actually happens at LAX in terms of clearing security etc?  How long could I expect it to take from landing to being outside waiting to be picked up (by family)?

Cheers

There will be two meals on the flight from Dublin, make sure you confirm special meals in advance and check again on the day when you check in at Manchester that they are in the system. You arrive at LAX as a domestic passenger, you simply collect your bags and leave the airport, with no checks at all. Timewise it depends on the number of planes to be unloaded as you arrive but you should be outside within 30 minutes, at JFK we were in a car in 15 minutes, but then the flight was nearly empty!

Ours was a Dublin - Newark flight, but process will be the same.

    Bags will be checked through.
Once you go through US border control in Dublin you are effectively on US soil (that process takes about an hour from joining the queue to getting through border and security checks.  It is a very slick operation, if you are tight for time they will prioritise passengers for flights departing soonest).

Arrival at US airport will be at a domestic gate and you can walk straight off the aircraft to the baggage hall and then lesve, no security checks.  Took us about 30 minutes, but our bag was the last off.  Without any luggage it would be 5-10 minutes at Newark.

As someone with dietary requirements please make sure you have back up food (check what's allowed) in your carry on luggage.

At this time of year all I'm seeing on various groups is that promised food never materialises - even after it is confirmed at check in. There was even one person told that their meal had been on board but was mistakenly handed to the wrong person.

Just one last question if you don't mind. Do I need to be at the airport 3h before the MCR to Dublin flight? Doesn't make sense if you do, but just want to check

    Cheers

Why do you think you would need to? Check the airline's website for the latest checkin/gate close times. And bear in mind security at Manchester is very fussy, chances of getting a bag search are much higher (IME) than any other airport.

Probably not.  At Leeds Bradford the Emerald airlines check in doesn't open until two hours before the flight.
