Dyson Dilemma

I have a Dyson D7 Absolute cordless. It's only about two and a half years old but the brush bar doesn't spin so it doesn't pick up. I've followed all the troubleshooting steps and contacted Dyson who tell me that it needs a new brush bar head. This would cost £65.
I don't want to throw good money after bad. Has anyone had the same problem?
I would say that this Dyson is the best vacuum cleaner I've ever had - but also the worst as it hasn't lasted long, and hasn't had heavy use.

If it's out of warranty, then it's out of warranty, and Dyson won't help you.You can buy 3rd-party heads from around £22 on t'Bay, and in my experience the quality is equal (when I bought for an earlier Dyson model).Have you checked YouTube for how to test the existing one?2

When you take the bar off there are 2 electrical connections. I was trying to find out what the input to the brush was so that I could check the main body output and also to stimulate the input voltage and see if it would run.
Dyson tech community were less than useless in providing any response 😒
They did advise thought that if the replacement bar doesn't work they will refund the purchase price upon return of the item. They didn't understand the complete waste of this process rather than just providing reasonable tech support to allow customers to diagnose1 -
Thank you both for your replies. I've watched several YT videos to no avail. I'll also look at finding a less expensive replacement head.0

Do you have a multimeter? Have you removed the brush for a thorough cleaning? Does it spin by hand (power off...)?
