Incorrect information on student loan application

On the last academic year application my mother didn't declare that she was now in a civil partnership. They've now informed me I have been paid too much loan and I have to repay thousands. My mother doesn't want to know and says its my problem, any advice?

Should you not repay what they deem you owe, they will take it off next year’s loan.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. It might be work speaking to your education provider and seeing if any financial assistance is available.
Am I right in thinking that if you were registered as living away from home and not dependent on your mum, your eligibility would change and you would be entitled to maximum maintenance loan going forward?
This might also make you eligible for grants, bursaries and scholarships. Again you would need to enquire with your provider. Perhaps Student Union might also be able to advise?
I can't comment on your current loan situation as I don't know enough about the system.

Good luck...Another option that may be available, depending on your circumstances, would be to live with your father rather than your mother.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
