Freesat Tv cable problem

We have a Freesat Tv but have never used Freesat as we had a Freeview set top box. The latter has broken and while we decide whether to buy another we thought we'd make use of the Freesat already in the Tv. The problem we have is that we moved house in the last year and there are 2 cables coming into the house together. They wouldn't reach the Tv so I got an extension cable which I duly connected to one of these cables and to the tv. I've tuned the satellite channels in but when I go to the programme guide, although the channels are showing I can't get them to work. It says Invalid Service. Any ideas or suggestions please?

What's wrong with using the TV's own Freeview tuner? and the cable that used to go into the Freeview box?
It'd be a very unusual TV to have no Freeview and a Freesat input.  (Maybe SD, DVB-T only but...)

Likeliest issue will be the LNB on the dish was for a $ky Q box.  That is a wideband LNB with all H on one cable and all V on the other.  Only $ky Q and the freesat 4k boxes can utilise that type of LNB.

Option 1 swap the LNB for a Universal aka Legacy type
Option 2 buy a freesat 4k box (receiver only or recordable PVR)
Option 3 buy a replacement Freeview box.

Thank you for your reply. I'd actually forgotten that it had Freeview in-built as well as Freesat, but stumbled across it before I read your reply, which at least clarifies why we can't watch Freesat. Wish I'd posted on here before buying the extension cable and wasting my money. Anyway, thanks again.

If it has freesat, I'd get it working. The difference in picture quality is pretty extreme.

Freeview is massively over compressed, ITV HD is a good example, try watching football or horse racing and the grass is just a green splodge, on Freesat ITV HD the grass actually has texture.

Thanks. We'll see. I don't watch much TV and DH is just relieved to be able to watch the England final.  😂
