In Home Display
Hi,
For the last few days my in home display unit has randomly started showing red when no additional appliances etc. are being used. It usually only shows red when the kettle is on. In addition to this the daily total is up by about £2 a day. Any idea why this has started to happen? Also at the start of the day it usually shows 0.07p but for the last few days it showing 53p.
Thanks
Alison

53p sounds like the standing charge has been applied to your usage total. As for daily consumption, I find it more useful to look at kWh rather than ££.pp. If your daily kWh usage remains about the same, I'd suspect some hinkie maths (possibly from a firmware/price update).

I have never seen red on mine; only orange, and that is with 3.6kW car charging too. At what power usage does the red light come on please?

On my smets1 it's long term adaptive (learns users usage pattern). And the little EOn manual says its based on energy patterns not cost.
Because I am all electric for hw (3kW element year round) and heating (3 nsh about 7kW) mines is fairly desensitised to moderate electric use - so even 4kW plus is green (just tested with oven and toaster for a minute).
But if an ota firmware or price update has reset any learning history in OP'S display - given it now starts at a more reasonable daily SC level - I suppose it could change.
But you really need to check daily kWh in case there is something drawing an abnormal amount of power.
Prices are at best a guide (I've had no sc and no vat, sc and rates no vat and sc vat inc in daily etc totals - but have also had wrong rates sent by supplier - and some report not getting prices updated for years)
Like a faulty second freezer in an outbuilding or heating / hot water.
As if your weather been like here its been a bit overcast damp and so cooler for last few days here anyway. Maybe cold enough to trigger a moderate set thermostat.2 -

If you can post a picture of the IHD, someone may be able to tell you how to use it.
