We’ve hidden a treasure chest containing over £10,000 of whisky somewhere in the UK.Solve the clues, find the coordinates, claim the grand prize.

In order to discover the location of the monthly mini-chest, you will need to solve a whisky-related puzzle. This puzzle will be released to the world at 10am on the second day of every month.

Now for the fun bit. We’re going to give ten customers each month a 24 hour head-start on the puzzle by way of a prize draw. Every £50* you spend with us this year will get you a ticket for this draw - entry is automatic.

24 hours after the monthly mini-chest has been found, we will update the GPS coordinates of the main cache (to give the mini-chest finder a head start on the main prize).

Terms for Master of Malt Whisky Treasure Hunt 2024

THE PROMOTER: The promoter is Atom Supplies Limited (company register number 03193057), trading as Master of Malt (MoM) and having its registered office at Unit 1 Ton Business Park, 2-8 Morley Road, Tonbridge, Kent, TN9 1RA, United Kingdom. 

THESE TERMS AND PRIVACY POLICY: By participating in the treasure hunt, you confirm that you have read, understand and agree that these terms and the MoM Privacy Policy (and the way we process personal data) are binding to them. MoM reserves the right to amend these terms; to hold void, suspend, cancel or amend the treasure hunt campaign at any time if it becomes necessary to do so.

WHAT IS THIS WHISKY TREASURE HUNT: MoM has hidden 12 mini-treasure-chests and 1 grand treasure chest in secret locations all around in the United Kingdom (mainland only) for whisky lovers to find. The location of each mini-treasure-chest can be found by solving whisky-related puzzles released by MoM each month; the first person who solves and finds each mini-treasure-chest wins that mini-treasure-chest prize. Within each mini-treasure-chest, a digit of the GPS coordinates leading to the grand treasure chest location will be included; the first person who obtains the GPS coordinates and finds the grand treasure chest wins the grand treasure chest prize. More details below; all information and updates throughout the campaign will be published on the whisky treasure hunt page here. 

ELIGIBILITY: The treasure hunt is only open to individuals who are 18 years old or older (and of legal drinking age to purchase alcohol in their country of residence) and are residents of countries to which MoM is currently able to ship to (or in relation to orders placed for delivery to those countries to which we can ship). More information on shipping here. Ineligible entries (howsoever received) will be discarded. The treasure hunt is not open to any employees (and their immediate family) of the promoter or any of its associated companies. MoM reserves the right to verify the validity of entries and participants (including a participant’s identity, age and place of residence) at any time and reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who, or any entry which, it believes has breached any of these terms, tampered with the entry process or engaged in any unlawful or improper conduct which may undermine the fair and proper conduct of the treasure hunt. If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms or any attempt to circumvent or to frustrate them, MoM may, in our sole discretion, exclude any person from participating in the treasure hunt.

PUZZLES RELEASE PERIOD: The first set of puzzles leading to the first mini-treasure-chest will be released at 10:00:00 UK time on 2 February 2024 and the last set of puzzles leading to the last mini-treasure-chest will be released on 10:00:00 UK time on 2 January 2025. 

TREASURE HUNT PERIOD: The treasure hunt begins when the puzzles release period begins and closes when the grand treasure chest is found. In the unlikely event that the grand treasure chest is found before the end of the puzzles release period, MoM reserves the right to end the treasure hunt campaign early, or do all such reasonable acts to continue the treasure hunt campaign in a different or modified manner (for example, but not limited to, releasing a new grand treasure chest), always acting reasonably and in good faith. In the event that the grand treasure chest is not found by a participant after the puzzles release period, MoM reserves the right to end the treasure hunt campaign within a reasonable time (for example, within 6 months). 

HOW TO PARTICIPATE (HOW TO WIN IN PARAGRAPH 8 BELOW): 

MINI-TREASURE-CHESTS HUNT

Throughout the puzzles release period, MoM will release whisky-related puzzles on the 2nd day of each calendar month (2 February, 2 March, 2 April, and so on). Correctly solved puzzles will reveal the location of a mini-treasure-chest – the format of the location may be in any form known to the reasonable person, for example, but not limited to, GPS coordinates, what3words location, and Degrees, Decimal Minutes/DDM coordinates. 

To participate, entrants will need to (i) access the treasure hunt page here, (ii) review and correctly solve the puzzles released by MoM, and (iii) physically visit that location to retrieve a mini-treasure-chest. No purchase is necessary. You can find as many treasure chests as you can and like and as available during the treasure hunt period, there’s no limit.

Want a better chance to win and get a head start? During the puzzles release period, every order over £50 (excluding delivery charges) validly completed on masterofmalt.com in accordance with MoM’s normal Consumer Terms of Business will be automatically entered into a draw to receive the mini-treasure-chest puzzles 24 hours ahead of the general public; for every £50 (excluding delivery charges) spent in an order, you will get 1 entry into this draw (i.e. if you spend £100, you will have 2 entries in this draw) up to a maximum of 10 entries per customer. On the 1st day of each calendar month during the puzzles release period, MoM will select 10 customers at random from all eligible orders completed in the preceding month who will be emailed the whisky-related puzzles early, they will be able to start solving the puzzles and locating the mini-treasure-chest ahead of the general public. For the 2 February 2024 puzzles release, eligible orders placed in the month of January 2024 will be included in the draw to receive mini-treasure-chest puzzles early.

THE GRAND TREASURE CHEST HUNT

Within each mini-treasure-chest, there will be a digit of the GPS coordinates of the grand treasure chest’s location for you to find. Once we have been notified that a mini-treasure-chest is found, we will also release that digit of the GPS coordinates on the treasure hunt page. GPS coordinate digits will be released on the treasure hunt page each month in random order. 

To participate, participants will need to (i) obtain the GPS coordinates of where the grand treasure chest is located and (ii) physically visit that location and retrieve the grand treasure chest. There is only one grand treasure chest available.

HOW TO WIN: Any decisions made regarding the selection of the winners made will be final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into. 

MINI-TREASURE-CHEST WINNERS: There will be 1 mini-treasure-chest winner per month per mini-treasure-chest. In order to win the mini-treasure-chest prize, you will need to be the first participant that month to (i) physically locate and retrieve that mini-treasure-chest and (ii) access the unique code phrase contained. 

THE GRAND TREASURE CHEST WINNER: There will be 1 grand treasure chest winner overall. In order to win the grand treasure chest prize, you will need to be the first participant within the treasure hunt period to (i) physically locate and retrieve the grand treasure chest and (ii) access the unique code phrase contained. 

THE PRIZES: Please note that the treasure chests (mini or grand) do not contain physical products (or actual cash for the grand treasure chest) (for obvious health and safety/protection of property reasons), you will need to contact MoM with the unique code phrase found, and we will arrange delivery of the prize to you. All prizes are inclusive of packaging and carriage. Prizes are provided by the promoter and it is strictly non-negotiable, non-transferable. Prizes which are not cash cannot be exchanged for any equivalent cash value, cash alternative, or for other items. The promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize with an alternative prize of equal or greater value in the event the prize is not available for reasons outside of the promoter’s control.

MINI-TREASURE-CHEST PRIZE: Each mini-treasure-chest prize will consist of good quality alcoholic beverages (one bottle, most likely) of varying values of MoM’s choice. We don’t want to spoil the surprise yet, but we promise, it will be worth your while.

THE GRAND TREASURE CHEST PRIZE: The grand treasure chest prize will consist of good quality alcoholic beverages of MoM’s choice and cash, with a combined total value of £10,000.   

CLAIMING THE PRIZE(S): Each mini-treasure-chest and the grand treasure chest will contain a unique code phrase which is required for claiming the prize. Contact MoM Customer Service team with the relevant unique code phrase and we will arrange delivery of the prize to you. In the unlikely event that MoM is unable to arrange delivery to a winner (for example, if the winner is unable to provide a valid shipping address within a country that we are able to ship to) and such difficulties cannot be resolved within 7 days of such difficulty arising, MoM reserves the right to offer the prize to the next eligible participant. MoM will not be responsible if any winner is unable to take up the prize or fails to claim the prize within the time limit as set out above. MoM may contact the winners for feedback in respect of the campaign and/or prize and may use any feedback provided when announcing updates about the campaign and promoting the campaign or subsequent campaigns.

WINNERS ANNOUNCEMENT: When each mini-treasure-chest and the grand treasure chest is found, MoM will update the treasure hunt page accordingly. 

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY:

Each participant in the treasure hunt does so at their own risk and assumes all risk and liabilities associated with seeking and retrieving a treasure chest. Whilst we take care in being reasonable with the locations which we choose to hide the treasure chests, we cannot guarantee that these locations will be easily accessed or are designed for persons of all levels of health and fitness. You must comply with and obey all applicable laws (including health and safety guidelines), you must not enter third parties’ premises or properties without permission, you must not do any such acts or omissions which will cause property damage or bodily injury or death to other persons. It is your sole responsibility to ensure that caution and common sense is exercised at all times when participating in outdoor activities and the treasure hunt in general, this may include, but is not limited to taking into account all relevant variable factors (weather conditions, amount of daylight available, fitness level, terrain features) during your participation. 

The promoter will not be responsible for any entries that are delayed or lost for any reason (for example, due to technical error, payment error or connection failure). 

The promoter will not be responsible for delivery of a prize to any incorrect address. The promoter will not be able to ship a prize to any winner who is not able to provide a valid shipping address in countries which the promoter is able to ship to, in which circumstances the promoter will offer the prize to the next eligible entrant.

Insofar as is permitted by law, the promoter, its agents, employees, and/or representatives shall in no circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate any entrant who participates in the treasure hunt campaign and/or the winner who claim(s) a prize for any loss, damage, personal injury or death whatsoever and howsoever caused, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or otherwise, for any direct, indirect or consequential losses arising out of or in connection with their participation in this treasure hunt campaign, except where it is caused by the negligence of the promoter, its agents, employees, and/or authorised representatives. Participants’ statutory rights are not affected.
