2015 Corsa 1.4 ABS Issues

Hi
I've recently been having problems with the braking on my Corsa which led to it being recovered by the AA.  They have diagnosed a potential faulty ABS pump/motor.

The fault is intermittent, usually once the car is warm or has run for 10+ miles, and it's causing one (or both) front wheels to bind when braking.  Very loud rubbing noise and the car judders - feels unsafe.  This happens whether braking hard or just touching the brakes to slow.  The car does stop though.

The garage I use has said it's a known fault with many Vauxhalls.  I had a mobile mechanic out to look at it - no error codes on the ABS, but he noticed the battery was almost dead (which I knew needed replacing anyway), and said this may cause some of the systems to behave differently.  He said that if the ABS issue wasn't solved by the battery change, the unit would need to be changed out, which would be ££.

Everything seems to be pointing to the ABS unit, but before I spend money only to find the issue is something else, I thought I'd ask here whether there anything else that could cause the brakes to behave like this?

Car is very much a second car - only 17k miles and I've had it from new.

Many thanks in advance.

With only 17,000 miles in 10 years it could be the brake callipers binding.

Did you fit a new battery?
As the mechanic said, on a modern car a weak battery can cause no end of mysterious faults/warning lights/error codes.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

    Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I had a new battery fitted - no change to the braking issue.  Makes sense it could be the calipers binding, rather than the ABS unit since there were no error codes.

I'll get these looked at these as well - the problem is that no-one (apart from the AA man!) has been able to replicate the issue.

    Thanks again.
