So with this current promotion you get 4 airport lounge passes.
Doe anyone know if they can be used by different people(we are a family of 4)?
Also with it taking 6 weeks for them to arrive we are unlikely to need them by next August, meaning the card is likely to be cancelled by then so the annual fee could be avoided. So the other questions are if there is an expiry date on these passes and also if I should still hsve a valid Amex card at the time of using them?

Read the terms of the offer, they aren't long.
They can be used by the primary cardholder plus 1 guest, you cannot prebook entry so if they're full you aren't guaranteed to get in.
The pass does get cancelled after you close the AmEx account but it takes a couple of weeks for them to process the cancellation.1 -
Card holder +1 guest is only for Amex Platinum. I’ve got into a lounge in one visit as a family of four no problem with the Priority Pass linked to the gold card, and used all of my free passes in one fell swoop. My understanding is as soon as the underlying card is cancelled the Priority Pass won’t work and you’ll be charged £24pp1

https://www.americanexpress.com/en-gb/credit-cards/gold-credit-card/ currently states:
You will be entitled to four complimentary lounges visits each year you hold a valid Preferred Rewards Gold Card. These may be used by the primary Cardmember, or by the primary Cardmember and one guest.
So that is not inline with your statement @ploughmanslunch that it can be primary cardholder + 3 guests
The Goldcard used to get a different brand of lounge card but was Priorty Pass in different clothing, maybe that older card was more flexible on guests?1 -
Maybe I just got lucky with a disinterested member of staff? I had a PRGC as the underlying card and the guy just bipped the Priority Pass QR 4 times, gave us a weak customer-service smile, and went back to fiddling with his phone. PP app went from 4 passes > 0 passes.
I'm not bothering to renew my card as I can't get enough value out of it, but will be trying the same lounge again with my partner's (non-supp) PRGC PP in a few weeks.1 -
The priority pass gets cancelled with the Amex card, so you need to use them before the cancellation. For me this was within days, so I wouldn't bank on a lag of several weeks.1

Certainly at the Eurostar Business Lounge its totally down to the member of staff as the entry is only for UK and certain EU personal cards and not US cards or Business etc. Most the time you just flash a silver/black coloured traditional AmEx card and you're waived through but some want to study it to ensure the front doesn't state business/corporate and that the back has a UK/French etc telephone number0
