Insurance renewal and changing car

My partners car insurance is due for renewal in the 25 days time. I know the magic number is 23 so we would be well prepared for that.

However, her PCP deal finishes before then so there’s a near 100% chance that won’t be the car she actually has come the renewal date.

Although we don’t know the exact registration we are fairly sure of what car she is going to get.

What’s the best option for her renewal?

Get a quote based on her having her current car at the renewal date and amend the policy when we get her new car.

Or

Get a quote based on the new car and if she changes before the renewal date amend the existing policy for the final couple of weeks?

Any help / advice would be much appreciated.
