car insurance whilst between homes

Options
does anyone know of a car insurer which will issue a policy whilst between homes, and staying in short term rentals?
My current insurer have declined to offer a renewal, which is imminent. BIBA can't help. I've tried dozens of others, with no success so far.
I have a 'poste restante' but in answer to the 'and is that your usual home and is that where the car is normally kept overnight?' (bearing in mind not being truthful can invalidate the insurance), not really. It's where the ccard and driving licence and V5c etc is registered, does that count? No, no good, according to various underwriters. We'd be delighted to help you when you move into your new home.
BIBA even suggested I google to see how travellers and house boat dwellers manage. There are non-BIBA brokers who cover motorhomes but not cars.
I'm presently looking at having to sell or SORN the car (no idea where to put it) and hire one, as it's just not feasible to move family bags dog etc between remote AirBnBs by public transport.
I have 49 y clean licence, 15+y NCD, v boring car, same insurer (Aviva) for last several years. I can provide the dates and addresses of all the short-term rentals for next 2 months (by when hopefully conveyancing on the next house will completed.) My last hope has just texted to say they have cancelled the policy I bought via an online search engine, after I read the Ts and Cs and then clarified the situation.
It's extremely stressful. I feel completely let down by the insurance industry but they don't care.

    You've really got two options...

    1) Buy an annual policy changing the risk address each time you move and giving them the other address as your postal address but this is going to give you admin fees with each change and uncertainty of wha the premiums will be; or

    2) By temporary insurance for each of the stays and then an annual policy once you've moved into your new home

Either would work, but do you know of an insurer which will offer either of those?
I've tried several brokers who have all been unable to find me anything.

Option 1 is most insurers, at least by phone.

Option 2 is the likes of TempCover, Aviva, Veygo, DayInsure or alternatively https://temporarycar.gocompare.com/quote/ claims to be a comparison
