Money From Selling House, Where to invest

Hi,
I’m trying to find somewhere to invest my money after the recent sale of my house due to my divorce. The house i was trying to buy fell through last minuet, so I’m struggling. I’m currently trying to rent and wanted to rent for a year, to look for somewhere to invest my money with not paying large amounts of tax or capital gains.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I’m under a lot of stress at this current moment in time.
Thank you

If you need the money in a year ( or up to 5 years) then investing ( in stocks and shares etc) is too risky. That is better for the longer term.
So you need to save it in a savings account(s)
You may pay some tax on the interest, but it depends on your exact circumstance, how much money is involved and how much can be put in tax sheltered accounts like ISA's.
