Employment income protection.

I’ve been with my employer for over 5 yrs. As part of their package they offer income protection after 3 months of ill health.
Im off with mental health issues. Newly diagnosed PTSD from work related trauma under the old leadership team in the same company. I won’t go into detail as It includes a bereavement during the pandemic.
They have asked for letters from my assessment etc. I’m happy for them to contact my GP to support my diagnosis but I don’t feel they need to know the intricacies of my trauma from the psychologist? Do they?
And what kind of questions should I be expecting?
I’m not confident I will get anything as I’ve no idea if the policy the company took out included pre existing health conditions.
20yrs as a Nurse and it’s the first time I’m off sick. I would really appreciate any advice.

I'm sorry you are in this position. Nobody here can tell you what the policy incudes or excludes. I'm assuming you mean today you have had mental health issues previously - were those disclosed, and at what point?
I'm not clear who "they" are... but failure to comply with a request could, in itself, invalidate any claim.0 -
They're usually entitled to any information that they require to make (or commission) their own assessment of your condition to establish liability.1

This income protection plan is paid for by the company so nobody declares anything individually not fo we fill lut any documents like one would do if they were accessing this plan on an individual basis. The company has purchased this plan. Does that make sense.
ive had past depression 5 yrs ago, ptsd diagnoised 4 months ago.I’ve no issue with them accessing details.Thank you by the way.0 -
I'm unclear as to what the issue is then? You said initially you didn't want then to have the details from your psychologist. But now you say you have no issue with them having the details? But in the end, if you refuse them permission then you risk them saying no.0
