Highways Regulations

Hi there,
Are there any current regulations or restrictions with regards to new developments with parking and access to a public highway which is only 2.6m in width i.e single track. Our local authority has granted planning permission for the redevelopment of an old office block into apartments, which include 10 parking bays. These will have access to a public highway 2.6m wide and a section of 30m which is walled on both sides. The developers have now applied to fill on an old car park and extend this development further. The new development will include an additional 5 parking spaces. Additionally the highway has a very dangerous entrance on the brow of a hill. What grounds do we have to object proposed development and additional traffic?

You can submit an objection on those grounds. As for the already permitted development, highways would have been consulted and would have set requirements over access to the highway if they deemed it necessary. The council planning portal should show all the documents from consulted departments.
