Disposing of mobility scooters

Has anyone got any experience of disposing of mobility scooters?
My father passed away recently and was a bit of a crazy hoarder. He had 4x mobility scooters in back garden wasting away.
The council won’t take them. Anything I google online only talks about re-use / trade-in or selling them. I think they are way past usable if even working at all.
I’m currently stuck with them.

We couldn't even get rid of my MIL's fully working barely used one. In the end one went for scrap and the buyer of the house took the newer one for his mum.

Take the battery out.
Dispose of at local tip. Then do the same with the scooters.Life in the slow lane0 -
Have you thought about popping it on your local Freecycle site? I occasionally see "wanted" posts for this kind of thing1

Perhaps have a look to see if there are any community repair clubs that want them as a project / for spares. Probably unlikely, but worth a quick look anyway.0

As someone who uses a wheelchair but started with mobility scooters.
They can often be made to work with a new battery or a tweak and are so very expensive to buy to start... so if you cant sell them please have a look at giving them away eg preloved website, facebook local groups, freegle/ freecycle etc... someone may be able to turn a 'spares or repairs' scooter into a usable one. The problem comes with transporting them if they aren't the ones that come apart.
If you have an MS or altzheimers or RBL centre in your area they may know of people.. but its ringing around.
You could also look for your counties name and centre for independent living, disabled persons organsiation or independent living centre.. they may have sales/ give away pages.
If you are up for the challenge .. people break them for spares and repairs on ebay.. i've bought so many parts over the years to keep my wheels going that bit longer. That may raise some funds to pay for disposal
However sometimes they are too far gone .. the batteries are the expensive bit to get a clearance company to remove so if you are able to lift them out and take to tip that may help keep cost down...

I'm just wondering if there is a local group which specialises in customising equipment particularly for young people, for whom the 'bits' of a mobility scooter may be just what they need. I can't remember the name of the group: fairly sure it starts with a 'Re-', and they are retired engineers. Good old Google - it's REMAP.
Otherwise if you have a 'men's shed' in the area, they might want to tinker around ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Sold my last one to a hobbyist on Gumtree having been turned down by the local Robotics department.0
