Investing in something like Vanguard Life Strategy when resident in France?

Hi all,

my sister is an EU national resident and working in France. I live in UK, and am so far very happy with my small investment in the Vanguard LS funds.

She would like to make a similar investment through regular contributions - does anyone have factual information how these funds (or something very similar) can be purchased in France?

I am having a hard time trying to research / google this for her, so I would be grateful if someone who reads this knows.

Thanks!

The Morningstar web page for France will give details of investments that are available there... then she will need to find a broker or platform with whom she can invest.

She would be wise to find out whether there are any products similar to our ISAs or pension funds that might give her tax relief.

Have a look at Vanguard's France website, they're listed on there.

Thanks @wmb194 I had found that, but it seems that the funds can't be purchased from that site the way they can be from the Vanguard website in UK. I do not have any funds via broker, just directly from Vanguard, and my sister doesn't have any investments at all right now (other than some employee stocks) and I was hoping to point her to something more straight-forward.

I'd read somewhere that interactive investor (?) also works in France and sells Vanguard.

Trading212 seems to be available in France and selling these funds denominated in Euros. I suspect any major player that allows ETFs to be purchased would also do them.

Buying funds from the in-house platform is often not the best way. It isn't in the UK either.   So, having to use a third party whole of market platform is not such a bad thing.

Technically, you do have it via a broker.  Vanguard Platform is the broker, but they only offer Vanguard investment funds.   Vanguard use FNZ software just as many of the other whole of market platforms do.

I'd read somewhere that interactive investor (?) also works in France and sells Vanguard.

Web browsers mean that you can access data worldwide.    However, UK financial firms cannot retail to EU residents due to Brexit.   The exception is where the firm sets up a physical branch in each EU country they want to be active in.   They can also apply for passporting rights from the EU main branch, but that is often more expensive than picking certain EU countries and dealing direct with them.   Most UK firms have decided they don't have enough EU clients to make it worthwhile for the extra costs that exist and will not offer terms to those resident in the EU.

And a quick check via google indicates that ii is not available to French residents.

That would be the French Trading212, not the UK Trading212. They have the same brand but different businesses within the group.  i.e. it would need to be set up via the French site. Not set up via the UK site.
