No, they don't close the savings account when you switch. I have one still open after a switch last year.

    In the app
    Go to help>chat
    Enter °close account.°
    Fill in details as requested
Savings account will be closed in 3/4 days.

  • I still have four open savings accounts, left over from when you could open multiple current accounts, since switched away.

Tried closing the savings accounts, but Virgin insisted I either go in store or send a letter. Cba with either, hence they still open.

Followed @Descrabled suggestion, only for the bot to continue to tell me the same thing 🤷‍♂️

I was sent a letter last year about closing an account and to call them if you didn't want a copy of paperwork for it - so I did, they said it would be closed, then it was still open when I switched to Virgin this May, they opened another M Saver but I noticed today one of them has been closed now so I only have 1

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

The savings account doesn't get automatically closed, even though the T&Cs says that it should. But as above, it's very easy to close it yourself if you want. In your online banking, there's an option to "close account" hidden away in your profile settings. The page says it applies to current accounts, but if you input the sort code/account number of your savings account then they will close that account instead.

I just done what you suggested  and it seem to go to plan. Said on app should be closed by Friday  so will see.

Tried this as above and worked to close redundant Savings account.

Did not work for closing an old VM isa account but did receive an email asking me to send a written request to their address (supplied) in Scotland.

Try typing talk to a human or something, usually works for me with app chats
