Returns for change of mind ( which this is as it is not faulty)  are not necessarily free.

it normally states free return in the  listing if it applies.
As surprising as I find it, the below from OP's link does seem to imply they cover the return postage on all returns:

Which category do you put a change on mind about a chair under?
The OP has not said it is faulty, just that it was uncomfortable for him.
The second one - "Refund of costs of sending the item back to us if cancellation"
Did the OP request a Cancellation or  a Return

Having opened and built the chair i don't think would count as a cancellation., which would be returning the order without opening it or building it up.

The OP had a change of mind.

I realise this is too late for the OP but it might benefit other readers who find this thread.

Speaking as someone (1) who has suffered both chronic and acute back pain for nearly 50 years and (2) who spent all their working life sitting at an office desk needing "ergonomic" chairs, I would never spend £1300 on an ergonomic office chair with all day lumbar support without testing it extensively first.

That means buying it locally instore (preferably with a trial period) and definitely NOT buying it online.

As an Amazon Marketplace seller I’ve seen change of mind return requests labelled as both returns and cancellations.  Tomayto, tomarto.

Thanks for all the comments, interesting to read. If they've accepted they pay return fees - which they do because they have offered the original £248 - I don't understand how they can claim not to be responsible for the rest? The rest were purely because they gave me the wrong address and took a week to give me the correct one despite many many phone calls. I followed their instructions and heir mistake cost that extra £650.

I've decided to re-submit the letter. I've changed the defendant to Amazon EU S.a.r.L. as that is what is on the invoice as 'sold by'.

I've also added one piece of evidence to the one that was ignored previously. This shows that I told three of their customer service agents the size of the parcel before they emailed me telling me to send the parcel to Dunfermline - where it was rejected.

    Here's hoping this works.
