in Credit cards
Hey everyone, I'm hoping for some help with a difficult sitatuon.... I also appreciate there may not be anything I can do, so fingers crossed someone has been through similar...
Last October, I purchaed an eBike from Amazon (£849.99) and the eBike handling and brakes in particular were constant annoyance. I made Amazon aware every step.
In April, a van (that drove off too) drove into me from the wrong side of the road and I was on hospital for a whole with a severe skull fracture and I've not even able to work since.
Again, I made Amazon aware of this.
Eventually this led to me issuing an A-Z claim and credit to them, they granted the refund (possibly also an admission of guilt wiirh the safety of the product.
The refund was to my HSBC credit card.
Tred calling Both Amazon and HSBC several times to see if it could be cancelled from either party and both just kept saying I had to speak to the other party.
My main issue is with the account suspended, the money just sits there and I can't do anything.
I called HSBC again to see if they could help me...I'd already registered with them / advised details of the accident and my injuries and not being able to work since.
So, I'm also on their 'vulnerable customer' log.
I was hoping because its all been true, documented with medical evidence etc that they would offer me some kind of solution, but they said there was nothing they could do. So it was all documented again in the form of raising an official complaint with them as it certainly wasn't
They know I'm vulnerable and cannot pay anything to them until I'm back on my feet so to speak.
I'd use line fron another HSBC discussion on here - "One of the key commitments of the Banking Code, to which HSBC subscribes, states: "We will deal quickly and sympathetically with things that go wrong and consider all cases of financial difficulty."
The complaint was only just issued and I won't hear back from them for months
Does anyone have any advice for me?
Could I possibly ask them to reverse the refund back to Amazon (in which case, they'd offer me gift card balance), rediscuss the vulnerability and financial difficulty, or absolutely any advice for me for the next step?
Thank you
S

Not sure I understand the chain of events here.
Amazon refund the money to the card you used to pay for the bike - the HSBC card?
Then you say the HSBC account is suspended, why is it suspended. You also mention not being able to pay back until you are back on your feet, pay who?
After Amazon refunded the e-bike are you still owing money to HSBC on the card and somehow are hoping to get the Amazon refund paid to you?
Is so, no chance I would say.0 -

The original purchase was made on the HSBC card., of which I also advised Amazon that the account was suspended.
Suspended as I can't afford to pay anything at the moment, I asked them for a payment holiday / extra Breathing space and they're who I want to pay back (HSBC)
Yes, I still have a balance with them. I'm under my credit limit.
The irony is, if I paid £800 to HSBC, they'd make my card active again. But I'm not in a position to do so.
And yes, I understand the issue with me being behind on payments and the suspended account, but this is the best place to come for advice in case anyone else has been in a fairly similar situation

So essentially you want the refunded money back whilst you still owe HSBC money?
Not going to happen I'm afraid.0 -

It was plainly obvious with my original message that I understand, but someone may have been through similar.
If, for example I'd used an MBNA account at the time and the same thing happened, they would definitely have moved the money to me or send it back to Amazon (who would then refund me as Amazon balance).0 -
I know of no credit card that would pass any refund made back to the card to the cardholder whilst still owing money on the card. If you wanted Amazon gift card instead of a refund back to card you should have asked Amazon at the time.
Had you even paid the bike off to HSBC and new debt was accrued.0 -

And I did ask Amazon, several times, but as it was through a reseller, has to be original payment with A-Z claims. I wasn't aware of this either until the decision came my way.
