Road tax car clamped.

Hi guys
One of my friends car got clamped. Their cars been broken down. Not worth much. road tax is about 200 pounds a year.
Sadly car was parked outside and now got a clamp for no road tax.
She doesn't want the car back as she got nowhere to put it .
Is she going to have to pay a huge fine now to get the car released etc ??
Thanks

She can expect a fine for keeping a car on the road without tax. This may be as little as £40 if paid promptly. Much more if ignored.
Road tax is whatever it costs. The car once taxed can then be returned to her.
If she doesn't want it then she needs to find a buyer and unused tax can be refunded5 -
The process should be detailed on the notice affixed to the car. For help with this issue, see below: -Since we concentrate on parking charge notices from unregulated private parking companies, you would be better off taking this over to our friends on https://ftla.uk (the recently started forum to replace/supplement Pepipoo), as they are the experts on council and police issues. You will need register before reading the FAQs, then posting both sides of your PCN with your query.PrivateCouncilPolice4

She will have to pay the release fee (£100), as well as buying the car tax: https://www.cartaxenforcement.co.uk/The fact that the car had broken down is immaterial - it was on a public road without any tax being in place.

Sorry guys the reason I said the car is broken down... is because she doesn't want the car. Can she not tell them to keep the car ? And if so would nor need to pay anything?0

No.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Broken down is irrelevant
Its registered in her name and is on a public road or highway, untaxed , should have been off road, be it towed or transported, it wasn't so was clamped for being untaxed on a public road2 -
Ignorance of the law is no excuse.2

Hi what I'm trying to say is... the cars broken therefore she doesn't want it back. They can keep it. Therefore would she still have to pay the 100 to release the car and any other fines etc?0
