Car issues - Rights after 1 year?

I am wondering if anybody could advise who i need to speak to about issues with my vehicle since purchase. I am wondering if there is anyone who can advise me on my rights.. i will post a brief timescale of issues below which obviously, will have more detail to it but just to give you an idea of things that have happened. I'd just like to know if i have any rights in relation to handing them the car back as not fit for purpose as it has been a year of having the car and just where i stand or any advice.
Thanks
*FOW = Fords of Windsford
Bought car 02/08/23
07/08/23 - Coolant Leak – needed replacement bottle. Taken to local garage for repair. FOW paid the garage.
(This was noted on the MOT done at FOW before I got the car but was not fixed – this was not mentioned to me at the time and when I spoke to the dealer advising of the issue they advised they were unaware however it was FOW that did the MOT and failed it then passed it again.)
25/09 – Emailed to advise of Engine Management Light on and also the vehicle smelling of burning. (this was a follow up email from me leaving them a voicemail the week prior but I was away until I followed this up on 25/09)
25/09 – Took it to my local garage who fixed the coolant to diagnose, they advised that it needed to go back to jeep. Advised FOW of this who asked me to take the car back to Jeep. Jeep advised they had no appointments until the December. I advised I am unable to drive due to the burning smell and concerns about the car and the EML being on.
26/09 - Fow advised to take it to Camco Automotive – again couldn’t get an appointment with them. I advised they can only fit it in on 11/10 and was unhappy to be driving the car with 3 children in when it smells like smoke and I am not confident driving it with its current issues.
27/09 – FOW advised that they had a mobile technician who could come out to check on the car. The engineer came out to check the car and found an oil leak but advised I would need to wait until the weekend when he has parts to be able to fix it.
1/10 – Engineer changed a seal on the vacuum pump.
04/10 – Email to FOW to advised burning smell getting worse and that I had contacted the engineer myself to advise of this and he said he would come and have a look as was driving through my town at that time. He had a look advised that where he had fitted the seal wasn’t leaking however there was fresh oil on the gear box so potentially coming from a different place.
He couldn’t take the gearbox out to do it properly.
In this email I mention an issue with the back right tyre which I had spoken to FOW about over the phone, they had agreed to fix this on 17/10. (it was an issue with a valve.) FOW agreed they would check the engine/gearbox when the car was brought in for the valve issue on the tyre.
17/10 – I had covid and was unable to drop the car off – I replied to the email to agree a date of 1/11 but this had been taken and the next available appt was then made for 16/11
22/10 – I emailed to advise the Engine Management Light was back on – reply from FOW said they was under the impression that the engineer has reset the EML but will check why its back on when it goes into their garage.
13/11 – Emailed FOW to advise of a new oil leak and sent photos. Agreed to drop the vehicle off on Wednesday.
16/11 – Vehicle needed new part which was placed on order. Was advised ok to still drive the vehicle and was just waiting for a part to come then it could go in to be fixed. Back tyre was fixed? I have requested proof of what was done for this and also a report on what came up on the diagnostic for my EML at this time.
20/11 – Chased FOW to ask when the part would be with them and when it could be booked in for repair. Advised to take it in on 27th . Agreed for FOW to collect the car from my address.
27/11 – Advised the gasket that had been fitted hadn’t solved the oil leak, they advised they are going to order a replacement pump as the seal has perished due to corrosion. Advised on major back order for this so no ETA and once they have it they will take the car in again. Again advised that it is ok to drive and wont cause major issues just to keep an eye on the oil level.
20/12 – Sent a complaint letter to advise that I was unhappy with the issues with the vehicle since its purchase. I have lost confidence in the car and overall just very unhappy and would like to know my options on swapping the car. Advised unhappy that have taken out a loan for a vehicle that has had so many issues and that I have no confidence in the vehicle lasting for the entirety of my finance agreement.
20/12 – FOW offered me a courtesy car until the part came in and my vehicle was fixed, they wanted an opportunity to fix the issue.
04/01 – Got the car back from FOW – sent complaint email as 300 miles had been added to the clock since leaving it with them. FOW advised they extensively tested it and this is why, complained that an extensive road test at a standard garage would usually be 24miles at most and 300 miles seems excessive. I believe someone from FOW was using the car over the Christmas period.
04/01 – Noticed the locking wheel nut was missing. FOW forgot to put it back in the car.
12/01 – EML on again advised to contact RAC. Took it to local garage to get diagnostic but the light had gone off by this point.
28/02 – EML on again intermittently
23/05 - EML on again intermittently – advised need to go to Jeep. Discussions with Jeep about getting the car in and they do not accept RAC Warranty. Spoke to garage and light was intermittent coming on and off…tried at home diagnostic machine and not showing a fault.
24/06 – Took to local garage due to EML – they advised they are unable to help and needs to go to jeep.
26/06 – Spoke to RAC and advised what the garage had said .. they asked if they could send it to a different garage to see if they could help and booked in for 01/07.
01/07 – Took to garage RAC had arranged. The issue I have is that both garages have advised they are unable to fix it and that It needs to go back to Jeep. Issues are with Turbo and Throttle.
Jeep are advising that they don’t accept RAC warranty.
01/07 – Emailed FOW to advise of this and explained frustration with the vehicle and how unreliable it has been since purchase. Sent FOW copies of all correspondence linked to the vehicle and its issues and advised that the vehicle was not fit for purpose.
01/07 – FOW advised that they had spoken to RAC and they would try and find an alternate garage to look at the car.
03/07 – RAC advised they were trying to source somewhere to look at the vehicle, a turbo specialist. – Emailed FOW to advise of this and also the concern that my MOT is due 09/07 and that I was worried it will not pass its MOT due to the issues. FOW asked if I could get the garage to turn off the EML before the MOT so it passes.
08/07 – Emailed FOW to chase up what is happening with my vehicle and also to ask of proof of what was repaired with the vehicle back in November, also what the EML issue was back then too. Awaiting response.
08/07 – Taken car to garage for back right wheel issue, advised valve problem again and needs to go back to jeep.

How many miles has the car done since purchase?
I would be getting an independent report done on the car to show the car was inherent at the point of purchase and is still faulty then rejecting it under the 2015 Consumer Rights Act. Put this in writing to them.
Depending on the mileage you have already done (less the 300 miles they did) then you should be looking at a partial refund to reflect the mileage.
You should have really rejected this after the first repair failed! I guess they were very persuasive in having it fixed again?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
