Skirting – Gluing internal corners?

Hi all,
This is more of a “Why don’t we do this?”, rather than a “Should I do this?”.
With skirting, we glue external corners.
Why is it that we don’t glue internal corners?

If you have mitred the joints (you did mitre them....), the skirting has space to expand and contract. Glue the joints, and the return might pull away from the wall.
Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
Mitred and glued the external joints, but scribed the internal joints (which given I’m using square-edge skirting, so effectively a butt joint).
Sorry, what do you mean with “return”?0 -
Ah, so the length that butts up against the wall0
