New Laptop. Help needed.

I've been asked to find a decent laptop for someone I work with and don't really have a clue about them. I think they're prepared to spend around £400-£600, maybe a bit more if it's a really good one.

I've seen this and just wondered what people thought of it http://www.microwarehouse.co.uk/catalogue/item/A0226983...extag&utm_medium=pcc

They did say they would look at high street stores or online so any help or recommendations would be great.

Its not jumping out at me as a bargain.

Does he need lightweight & portable, a bigger screen, out and out performance, some gaming capabilities?

Out of curiosity, why did your friend ask you if you (in your own words) dont have a clue about them?

I bought my Fujitsu Siemens from Laptops Direct - mind I have had it for 5 years and have replaced the hard drive recently. They sell all sorts of makes and even have refurbished second hand ones for sale. Think their webpage is http//www.laptopsdirect.co.uk

Does sound odd that your work mate asked you when you probably have as much knowledge as him - which without being rude isn't a lot.

He needs it for university work, internet and watching films (don't think he's into gaming). I'm not sure why he asked me, i'm actually quite suprised. I think it's because he saw my 80GB iPod and assumed I must know about technology stuff.
