Echo show registration

I'm thinking of getting an Echo Show for my parents and asked for advice on Amazon's forum.
I'm a bit confused by this part of the otherwise helpful reply from Amazon.
"once you've registered the device to your account, it will remain registered to your account even if it's connected to a different Wi-Fi network."
Does this mean there's no way of deregistering if I wanted to pass it on or sell it if my parents can't get on with it?

You can deregister the device in the Amazon App.
