Car Insurance renewal time of year, best way to get cheapest price

Its that time of year where I need to renew my car insurance and I have 30 days. I am with the 4 main comparison websites and they have my details saved, however I cant help feeling that they work on the same way as searching for flights, where you need to clear cookies and use a VPN to get the best deal. With car insurance typing in the same details over and over again, is frustrating. Am I being too cynical or is there a way round it? The prices just seem to be going up and up YoY despite having no accidents!!

You're being too cynical.
Ticket pricing is partially based on implied demand (i.e. how many people are searching for that ticket), which is affected by location and history. Notice that you get the price of a ticket before entering any of your personal details? That's why clearing history or using a VPN might work - as would buying the ticket as if you were in a lower cost location, because regional market pricing is a thing.
Insurance pricing is not. You give your details and a price comes out. Giving your details through a VPN or not does not matter. Whether you've given the details before or not does not matter. It is based on the statistical risk of the specific details that you used.
Of course prices are going up. Repairs are more expensive and incidents are more likely - statistically. Your financial risk to the insurer is higher than it was last year.0
