    to be fair to the OP (and others) -- many cars nowadays dont have space or carry a spare. They just have cans of sealant instead
    Mine did too - had the space but no spare, first thing I did was buy one and have needed it.

    Very fair offer
    In a past life claiming for accident damage if a tyre was damaged used to claim using the 
    following
    Example
    New tyre cost £100 tread on new tyre 12 mm
    Take away 2mm (nearest to 1.6mm not used)
    Usable tread depth 10mm
    £100 divided by 10 = £10 per 1mm of usable tread depth
    6mm remaining on tyre take away 2mm = 4mm usable tyre depth remaining
    4mm x £10 = £40
    £40 claimed

    Yes our tyres were truck tyres with 12mm of tread when new
