Hi i am wondering if anyone can offer me some advise . i am currently in an council house with electric only (no option for gas as none in our area ) we have a Air source heat pump (useless) and recently have had solar panels installed (not with option to sell back excesses to energy company) which are good .
we are currently on a pay as you go smart meter economy 10 however we would like to go on a fixed deal credit meter but not sure what traffifs would be best we are currently with OVO but they are not very helpful and when i try to find out information nothing seems to make sense.
Our current usage is around £3500 per year so is a lot and would like to reduce this but i just don't know where to start .
Any advice would be appreciated . Thank you

Maybe Octopus Cosy because of your heat pump?Or download the Octopus Compare app to see which tariff would suit you best.

Why is that, is it some special Council scheme where the Council gets credit for your excess? However the practical effect is that your surplus is absolutely free for you to use. Do you have any sort of meter so you can see when it's generating enough, for example, to run the tumble dryer?kid_from_yesterday said:.. have had solar panels installed (not with option to sell back excesses to energy company)
Regarding tariff, have you looked at specific heat pump tariffs from Octopus for example?1 -
I am sorry that you find your ASHP "useless". I have one and it keeps my house just as warm as the oil boiler that it replaced and it costs a bit less to run. My current electricity usage is around £1,400 per year. But in a council property the ASHP might not have been as well installed as mine was, because councils may subcontract to whichever installer bids the lowest and those are not necessarily the best.
Whilst you are on an Economy 10 tariff, make sure your ASHP is set only to heat your hot water tank during the cheap periods of Economy 10, if that is possible. If you can do this it should save you quite a bit of money.Reed0
