Register LPA with Banks

Hi, my very elderly parents each have Property/Fiance LPA's set up.  My brother and our father are joint and several attorneys for our mother.  Myself and mother are joint and several attorneys for our father.  These were set up and registered with the OPG several years ago, while both our parents had full capacity.

Whilst both our parents still have reasonable capacity to understand things, they lack the ability to "safely" operate a computer or smartphone and are struggling to manage their affairs without a significant amount of help.

We now realise it was probably a mistake not to have both my brother and I as joint and several attorneys on both their LPA's, particularly if either my brother or I were to predecease them, but hindsight is a wonderful thing.  Anyway, we are trying to work out how best to register the LPA's with their banks, as neither my brother nor I are attorneys for both our parents.

As their bank accounts are all in joint names, do we need to register both both our parents' LPA's and does it matter that the attorneys on each can only act for one of the account holders?

Thanks in advance.....

Yes ir was a mistake to make the LPAs this way, and I would be highly tempted to make new ones while you still can.

In the mean time get the existing one registered with their banks. As they still have capacity and will be operating the accounts jointly with their attorneys the best way to do this is to make an appointment with the local branch and you all attend together.
