Hi,
Hopefully someone will be able to help me with this issue I am having. Recently someone used my details to open a credit account in my name with the company Laybuy. The first i heard about it was a debt collection letter from MYCRS. The account is also showing defaulted on my credit report. The issue I'm having is disputing the debt . Laybuy have gone into administration and are not answering my emails. What are my options for getting this fraud off of my credit files? Have already contacted Experian with not much success. Have also contacted action fruad and citizens advice. All parties say i need to sort it though laybuy which is not much help.
Any advice appreciated.

Make an official complaint to that email. If no luck refer them to the FOS0

Yes, that`s the problem, this type of lending is unregulated, so the FOS are no help to you here.
You need to report this to Action Fraud, get a crime number, and quote this to anyone that comes asking for money, along with your explanation that this debt was accrued due to fraud.
You will be stuck with the debt on your credit file until it drops off due to limitation (6 years) but at least you should not have to pay the debt.

My daughter also had this problem with an ex partner using her details to buy things and not paying for them, the debt is around £2000 . We have reported to action fraud (waste of time) the police (waste of time) and spoken to the companies involved. Debt collection services have said that they will not take any action and written debt off but there doesn’t seem any way to remove from credit records which are really affected because of this0

Complain to the firms with the evidence of fraud
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
