We received£366.80 on the 10 June & last payment on24 June of £321.60(statements confirms this.          With regard to state pension(wife)received letter from DWP in February stating will get £884.80 every 4 weeks starting from 17July(4weeks in arrears)Wife’s retirement was19 June 2024.So underlying date would be19 June. With regard to carers allowance, carers informed wife in february that as you are getting State pension from19/6/24 we can not pay you Carers Allowance ,,,,,,,,So DWP new wife was getting state pension&carers was ending.

    Thank you for replies “appreciated”

With regard to esa/housing benefit.(little History)

Esa: ln January of this year l/we recieved letter from DWP  stating that “you are not getting any more IRESA”,,They tried to put me on esa rate of£138.20,I assume this is single rate esa plus/support group,I did a mandatory reconsideration and this was successfull.

    my/our rate at that time was £248.65 income related-£76.75(wife’s carers),at that time=£171.90.
So your income related entitlement is 171.90.
Recieved letter from the DWP in February which was correct
also stated that from 9 April your esa will be getting £183.40(also correct)

    I was happy with this😊

It also stated that from18June your esa will be£296.65a week(any ideas on this figure)

l recently recieved another letter from DWP in May stating from 18June2024 your esa will be£138.20 a week, just like they did in January of this year.

    Breakdown:Couple rate£142.25,support group£47.70,partner is a carer£45.60 which gives an income related amount of£378.55(pensioner premium of£143.00)
    minus:Carers Allowance £81.90
State pension of.            £221.20(confirms they new of pension)
    Total income of.             £303.10
your income related amount£378.55 less£303.10so you would be entitled to£75.45?

However because you are entitled to contribution-based esa we will pay you £138.20
I believe the carers amount of£81.90 should Not be in this calculation. Also wife not reached pension age?

In response to this letter I have done a mandatory reconsideration.( awaiting out come’)

I believe this letter is incorrect.I believe I have done the right thing👏

This is where the DWP have got their contribution based figure £138.20

Just because my wife reaches state pension age,why should we be penalised?

Been informed by Age uk,we should be known as a “mixed age couple” for benefit purposes.

With regard Hounsing Benefit according to letter sent June our Hounsing benefit will be virtually Zero from this weekend.

Have appealed this too.Can they just do this wife’s 1st pension payment 2 weeks away 😢❤️

Any advice/help would be really appreciated

Re esa: Even received last cost of living,EDP(enhanced disability premium)paid for years:Recieved letters from DWP confirming on esa income related. So why would’nt my esa be IResa?

Thank you for listing(tired now) going for a lay down✌️

The carers allowance deduction shouldn't be on that calculation, you are correct. If your wife hasn't yet reached state pension age then it should be recalculated. Once this is done you'll then be enfaced to housing benefits based on your IR ESA entitlement. I"ve seen that incorrect calculation happen many times on here and as recent as a couple of months ago.

So the ESA still think that Carer's Allowance is being paid, because you have not phoned ESA and told them. You have to tell ESA before 18th July otherwise you will not be entitled to any arrears.

"My wife's CA is underlying entitlement from 19 June 2024"

No need for a mandatory reconsideration, just phone ESA and tell them. Then you will be paid ESA IR £378.55 a week backdated to 18th June 2024.

The pension started and the pension premium from 19th June 2024, but they are effective from the start of your ESA week, which is 18th June 2024.  No mistake there.

When ESA IR is fixed, you can then tell Housing Benefit ESA IR is back in continuous payment. No need to appeal HB.

ESA would be less than that due to the state pension deduction.

    You are correct,

    From my earlier reply:
Your ESA IR rate should now be £378.55 a week, less her RP £221.20?  leaves you with £157.35 a week

it will be backdated @ £157.35 from 18th June.  Assuming they inform ESA of the change before 18th July.

Thank you for your responses,Appreciated:    I wlll contact esa tomorrow and hopefully get this sorted: Also have just received a payment of £276.40(£138.20) ! So it seems they have paid the single rate of esa plus the support group component.                                                    Carers informed wife of carers ending in February,I presume they would have informed esa.Do they communicate with each other?Cheers everybody👍☺️

Yes, you will receive any money that's owed to you. Yes, your ESA will include those rates, minus the deduction for SP.
  • Today received£57.45 esa payment. Not sure what this payment is?                                  Any ideas any body.                                             I presume esa have put me back on ESAIR,but have not received an updated letter confirming this.                                           Even with this payment the total esa received comes to£276.40 plus£57.45 equals £333.85.              Thanks to all 👍
