yet another glitch on ebay

Options
Firstly for some odd reason when I open my ebay account on the PC the page shoots down to the bottom and I have to keep manually moving it to the top. I've tried 2 different accounts on 2 browsers and it's the same on both.

More importantly though there appears to be an issue with offers. I sent an offer out, buyer sent a counter offer which I accepted. However, despite accepting that counter offer item is still for sale, and doesn't show as awaiting payment like I would expect. Instead under 'received offers' it shows as received and accepted but that it expires in 1 day 22 hours.

Since when has an accepted offer not been a sale? I can't even cut and paste how it shows as I can't keep my ebay page in the right place long enough to C&P as it just bounces back to the bottom again.

I've double checked in case I'm having a 'moment' but the email in my messages shows '

Counter-offer received: £12.00 for XX

Take advantage of this offer
Only 1 watching
Buyer's Feedback
100% positive

If I click on the view offer bit it shows pending, awaiting payment (this the bit I can't C&P) but states it is valid for 1 day 22 hours. As I mentioned above, despite me accepting the counter offer item still shows as available.

This is how Vinted works, nothing is sold until buyer actually pays regardless of whether offers are accepted . So does this mean ebay has started to change more of its working practices to emulate the much newer site ?

It’s because they’ve added a new square for the eBay Academy and are highlighting it in a very annoying way, if you customise the layout to hide that square it stops jumping half way down the page upon loading the seller hub overview :)

    Thank you, it works!

The item also has now been paid for and no longer shows as available- instead it shows as sold. So potentially ebay are trialling the Vinted system of items not being sold until they are paid for - yet I cannot find another mention of it anywhere. The only other potential explanation is that my buyer was one of those who had been expected to pay immediately the offer was accepted - but for some reason the funds weren't taken. So the offer was accepted by me, but due to funds not being immediately available, it stopped the clock.

I've accepted several offers with "we will automatically charge the buyer" and the payment takes hours to come through.

I've even seen a chat on another forum discssussing how to use a pre-pay credit card with only a £1 balance as the funding source. The idea being you can make offers for several items the same then only proceed with one purchase if multiple offers are accepted.

A lot of mine are immediate payment when offer accepted but even if payment takes a few minutes (and mine are usually paid within 20 minutes) the item doesn’t remain available for someone else to buy.

As for your last comment about posts on other forums , that’s the exact reason why me and many others welcome this change . If someone offers on one of my items and I accept then it is infuriating if I then have to wait 4 days for them to pay before I can do a non paying bidder report on them. Obviously I do automatically block buyers with 2 or more strikes, but I welcome any scheme that stops these people who really don’t understand how offers work.

It definitely looks like it was a glitch. I had 4 offers on 2 different accounts yesterday evening and once I accepted all 4 of them showed as pending payment  and were no longer available for sale.

2 of them were paid automatically, the other 2  didn't appear to be on that scheme but 1 paid in about an hour and the 44th was paid at some point overnight.

This does appear to be the weekend for offers, I've suddenly started getting more offers in - many more than I would normally expect. It is happening on both my business and private account as well. Some are just daft but I still counter with a better offer ,but some have been  very reasonable.
