Need £4500 for a car

I've just bought a new car and put £5k deposit on credit card. The main dealer didn't even ask, it just wasn't a problem.
That's said you don't want to be doing multiple applications.
If you're looking to pay back under 5k across 4 years that's quite a long time for a relatively small amount and perhaps a loan would suit you better with a view to paying it off early if you're eligible for 0%interest/have an increase in disposable income later down the line?0 -
Does the dealership itself offer any financing itself, so you pay a deposit and then make payments to them? If so, what interest rate?
You may be able to get a bank loan as well - I wouldn't discount that.
Credit cards may a high interest rate unless you get a long enough 0% term which may be tricky.0 -
A main dealer is much more likely to accept CC than the kind of dealer who sells £4500 cars. The former's cars are new or nearly-new, so much more reliable and less likely to generate the kinds of issues a CC's protections (such as disputed transaction or sect.75) bring.HampshireH said:I've just bought a new car and put £5k deposit on credit card. The other factor is, the main dealer likely has a significant amount of business through its workshop (and selling parts) which would suffer if they didn't accept CC payments. A £4500 car dealer might/might not even have a workshop or such extensive aftersales side.0
