It has been 9 weeks since I made an appeal to SFE via email (Student Finance England)
The email is in my sent folder , the header shows as sent and the email address is correct . .
Frustratingly at the moment there is no concrete way to even know if they have received it it , let alone looked at it .. SFE's policy on appeal states "We’ll be in touch to acknowledge your appeal within 5 working days of receiving it. We’ll assign your appeal to one of our case handlers to investigate" Despite this I have received NOTHING , no email , no letter , no call or other means . I had called at four weeks after and six weeks after , and the SFE telephone staff basically are not able to access the appeals progress , so are effectively useless .
I wrote a second email after six weeks to the appeals email but in vain , since yet again no response
I had last week written a complaint to the SLC, whom also state in policy
"If your email is about a new complaint, you will receive an acknowledgement within 5 working days "
Yet 5 working days have passed and no response apart form an automated response , replied immediately .
I checked the StudentRoom forums , and others are getting their appeals opened within 4 weeks ( raised around the same time this year) . So I am growing increasingly concerned
I am wondering what I should do next .. SFE have really stitched me up , since they had retrospectively reversed previous Years funding decisions ( 2021-2022) , and landed me in almost £3K .. Effectively my study has seized on the very last trimester , since I had to focus on paying the debt now owed to the University
SFE had made respective decisions to reverse funding for previsions years since I was studying under the threshold of 25% per year of the course and have taken longer than four academic years .. Though this was due to authorized breaks due to legitimate reasons mainly illness and bereavement ( This study was over covid period )
The ironic thing , is that SFE made this retrospective decision with just one paper left ... And its seriously jeopardizing my chances of graduating ..
If anyone can advise me what I should do next, it will be much appreciated
Thanks in advance
