Trying to Locate Old Cheltenham & Gloucester Account

Options
My father setup a savings account (as trustee) for my son with Cheltenham & Gloucester in the late 90's. Since my father's death a few years later we have lost track of the account. Given Lloyds TSB took over the C&G accounts but then split in 2013, it could be with either. We have contacted both TSB & Lloyds (along with MyLostAccount), none of whom can locate the account and yet we know it wasn't closed, and that it was in credit. Has anyone else faced (& resolved) the same challenge? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Working on the assumption you rang up TSB & Lloyds customer service lines you are likely to come across someone who may no nothing or at least very little about older dormant accounts.  I'm wondering if you were to ring their bereavement helpline (given that the account was set up by your now deceased father) if they would be more knowledgeable.  It's obviously a specialist team task.  Highly unlikely anyone currently working customer service would have been working on the front line at the time the account was set up with C&G but bereavements should be more accustomed to dealing with the older accounts.  Best of luck with it!!
