Leaking Lanterns fitted Nov 2022 claim for damages

Hi,
Can you please help me with a situation,  we had an extension built and a glass company came and installed 2 lanterns in the roof and every time it rains they leak causing a puddle on the floor in the kitchen and causing a damp stain now on the ceiling, we have called them back a few times now to take a look and they have resealed them but it is still leaking.
Are we able to claim against them for damages to the ceiling?
We are also still awaiting the guarantee paperwork and Fensa certs
Any help is appreciated.

    Welcome to the forum.

You have grounds for a claim but who it is against depends on how your project was managed.

Did you contract a builder to carry out the whole job including materials? If so, your claim is against the builder.

If you bought the lanterns directly from the glass company it is less straightforward. Who is responsible will depend on exactly what the fault is - is it a manufacturing fault with the lanterns, did they install them incorrectly or is the reason something to do with how the builder constructed the roof?

If the builder did everything then you can require him to repair or replace the lanterns, fix any leaks into the roof space and make good any ceiling damage. If it is two contracts you might have to bring in an independent assessor to decide who is at fault.

    Edited to add:
If the builder did the whole project, when you called the lantern company back 'a few times' was that with the knowledge and agreement of the builder?
